About

A practice built on empathy, honest listening and steady care.

AIR counselling is a space for the things that get held in, the worries you don't want to burden anyone with, the feelings that don't have language yet, the chapters you haven't had room to process. Whatever brings you here is welcome.

Therapy at AIR is collaborative and unhurried. We work at your pace, with warmth and without judgement, drawing on evidence-based approaches tailored to what you actually need, not what you think you should be feeling.

The meaning of AIR

Breathe in. Breathe out.
Let it all air out.

AIR is more than a name. It's the literal act of pausing, drawing a long, deep, pitted breath all the way down, and exhaling everything you've been holding. The tension in the jaw. The tightness in the chest. The day, the week, the years of it.

Breath is the first place body and mind meet. Learning to feel your own breath, slow it, and let it move through you is one of the quickest ways out of fight-or-flight and back into a steady, regulated state.

In sessions we work with the body as well as the story, somatic and breathwork practices, grounding, and nervous system regulation, so that anxiety, panic and distress have somewhere to go rather than somewhere to live.

Somatic breathing is gentle, paced and led by you. Held with compassion, it becomes a quiet, portable tool you can return to long after the session ends.

Rebalancing. Repositioning. Equilibrium. A returning to yourself, and to a sense of being part of something larger than the noise in your head.

Cool the system

A long, deep breath cools the body, softens adrenaline, and signals safety to a nervous system that has been bracing for too long.

Return to equilibrium

Out of fear, out of fight or flight, back into a steady state where you can think, feel and choose again.

Meet your true self

Underneath the coping, the masking and the noise is the person you actually are. Therapy is, in part, the slow work of meeting them.

What

counselling

can offer

Counselling gives you a confidential space to talk openly, make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and work through life's challenges with professional support.

A place to reflect, regulate, heal and move forward at your own pace.

Empathy

You will be met as a whole person, not a presenting problem. Your story is taken seriously, every time.

Compassion

Warm, non-judgemental and patient. The same softness we hope you'll learn to turn toward yourself.

Understanding

Counselling is a collaborative process of making sense, of what happened, what's happening, and what it means for you.

Validation

Your feelings make sense in the context of your life. You don't have to justify them to be supported here.

Care

Confidential, paced to you, and held with warmth. Therapy should feel safe before it feels anything else.

Healing & recovery

Steady, honest work toward repair, of body, mind and the relationship you have with yourself.

Areas of support

Whatever you're carrying,
there's room for it here.

These are some of the most common reasons people reach out. Your experience doesn't need a label to be worth bringing.

Anxiety

Anxiety

When your thoughts race and the body won't settle, we'll learn what calms your nervous system and what your worry is trying to tell you.

Stress & burnout

Stress & burnout

For when you've been running on empty. We make room to slow down, recover capacity and rebuild a sustainable pace.

Low mood

Low mood

A gentle, non-judgemental space to understand what's underneath the heaviness and find small, honest steps back toward yourself.

Grief & loss

Grief & loss

There is no right way to grieve. We sit with what you've lost, the people, the chapters, the versions of life, at your pace.

Emotional overwhelm

Emotional overwhelm

When everything feels too much at once. Together we untangle what's yours to carry and what can finally be set down.

Relationships

Relationships

Patterns, ruptures, boundaries, intimacy. A space to make sense of how you connect, and what you want connection to feel like.

Trauma & abuse

Trauma & abuse

Trauma-informed, paced and consent-led work for those carrying the weight of past harm, from single events to long, complicated histories.

Eating & food

Eating & food

Compassionate support for eating disorders and disordered eating, healing the relationship between mind, body and food, without shame and at your own pace.

Neurodivergent support

Neurodivergent support

Affirming therapy for ADHD and OCD, including exposure and response prevention for OCD, and emotional regulation and rejection sensitivity work for ADHD.

Eco-therapy & nature

Eco-therapy & nature

Sessions that step outside the therapy room, walking, gardens, lakes, animals. Reconnecting with the natural world is, for many, the start of reconnecting with themselves.

Healing & recovery

Healing & recovery

Long-form, compassion-led work for those in recovery, rebuilding trust in yourself, your body and your life after harm, addiction or collapse.
